Another exciting and fulfilling day came to an end! Here are the highlights, the “Magical Moments”, that remained unforgettable to our team.
After our usual gathering for breakfast, we headed to the field where Dr. Daniel E. Martin talked to us about his research and work as an agricultural engineer. There was also a drone flying competition that caused a lot of enthusiasm. We split into six teams and each team set a pilot. The pilots were challenged to perform an eight-shaped route with their drone, while the rest of the members that could see the route clearer would check that the drone is flying on the right path. The fastest team emerged victorious, completing the challenge in just twenty-seven seconds!
After a team “photoshoot” for our second social media challenge, we proceeded to the laboratory where we worked on a new challenge: make our robot able to go over a gap created by 2 tables whose distance had to be a minimum of 18cm, something exceptionally challenging for those who have had limited expirience with REV and java in the past. Additionally, we had a meeting with a representative from ΔΕΗ, who informed us about the innovation center’s activities and answered all of our questions.
Before we knew it, the afternoon had arrived, and we headed back to the laboratory after mixing up the teams once again. The new challenge was even harder, as expected. We had to build a robot that would collaboratively complete a similar mission to the one above, with another random team. Eventually, it proved to be an even more complex endeavor than we thought, but armed with patience and methodical work, we managed to have fun and successfully accomplish it.
As usual, the day ended with a team assembly. Members of both the National and pre-National teams shared their experiences and perspectives on what happened. The discussion led to the following conclusion: there are various types of people in society, and we must work hard to become the best version of ourselves.
17th of July – Our First Day!
Today was the first day of our Greek National Robotics team's boot camp, at the American Farming School. Since we are about 70 members, from many different parts of Greece, it actually was our first time meeting the people we'd been...
