GNRT BOOTCAMP: DAY 2 SUMMARY
On the second day, we started with breakfast at 7 a.m. and then gathered our laptops to head to the work area. The challenge for the day was to build a robot that could play Pac-Man.
Teams were divided based on skills: engineers built the robot, programmers handled the coding, and the creative team developed a strategy for how the robot would navigate the Pac-Man track and wrote the group’s booklet. The engineering and programming teams worked until 6 p.m., while the creative team had until 9:30 p.m. to complete their tasks. We took a lunch break at noon, with an optional three-hour rest period.
From 4:30 to 5 p.m., teams tested their robots on the track. The competition involved three robots: two playing as “ghosts” and one as Pac-Man. The goal was for Pac-Man to collect all the balls on the track, with points awarded based on the size of the balls. Pac-Man could also eliminate a ghost temporarily after collecting certain items.
In the evening, after dinner, the results of the competition were announced in the amphitheater, along with a review of the team booklets. The coach then introduced the next day’s challenge: building a robot to play curling.
